United Methodist Youth Fellowship
The Youth Group at Central is made up of youth from 6th to 12th grade. During the school year we meet Sundays at 5:30 pm for snack suppers and activities. Throughout the year we have special events like Resurrection, summer mission trip, Youth Sunday, and lock-ins. We serve the church by hosting meals, serving as acolytes and crucifers, and teaching the nursery class. For more information please contact Cody Quillen at CentralYouth@Live.com.
United Methodist Women
Central has an active chapter of United Methodist Women (UMW) . UMW is the successor to the historical Methodist missionary societies . The Central UMW holds an annual flea market, prayer breakfast, carnation sales, and other fund-raising activities to support their mission activities, which include Wesley House, Partners for Children, Central’s Food Pantry, World Missions, National Missions, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
The "Senior" group at Central, the Central Lights, was organized in 1992. It provides a monthly social time for anyone who claims to be a "senior," and members of other churches are welcome. The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month, at 10:30 a.m., with a devotion, recognitions, a brief business meeting, and an entertaining and/or informative program. A luncheon is prepared and served at Noon by the church hostess. In the future, Central Lights may join with similar groups from other churches for joint activities.
Groups for Study and Learning
Each and every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. we have classes for Children, Youth, and Adults.
WOWs (Women of the Word)
Women of the Word is a women's fellowship and support group which meets monthly at area restaurants. WOWS includes women of all ages, young mothers, working women, retirees, who enjoy the camaraderie of sharing the joys and complexities of life. Dinner together is unstructured, with no specific agenda, and we always leave with a heightened sense of friendship, encouragement, and Christian support for our individual lives. WOWS recently adopted the Central Food Pantry to provide essential toiletry items for those who are drawn to our Church seeking help. We also support the "Martha's Angels" initiative to assist in organizing and deep-cleaning the church building and grounds. Upcoming dates and activities are communicated via email. Contact Central to be added to the email list.
