Central Student Ministry is here to serve all students in grades 6-12. Our mission is to lead students in building a foundational relationship with Jesus Christ. Central is an inviting environment and welcomes all students who want to learn and grown in their faith. We seek to be biblically based while being culturally relevant in our discussions. We learn and grow through study, service and fellowship together.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Rev. Stephanie Parrott, Director of Children and Youth Ministries, via email or at (865) 524-1659.
The Student Ministry Sunday school class starts at 9:45 a.m. During Sunday school, the students participate in a discussion focused lesson that is biblically based and culturally relevant. Youth meet Sunday afternoons for Bible study where we are learning to read the Bible in context and critical think about how the passages are relevant in our lives today. Youth also meet on the 3rd Sunday evening of each month for EXPLORE. Youth families host us for dinner and afterwards we gather for games, activities and discussion about current events or issues that effect how we live as Christians in the world.
Student Ministry Activities
Our students are active and productive members of the congregation. Our students serve in the worship service by being greeters, readers, ushers, nursery volunteers, hand bell choir leaders, and volunteers for Children’s worship.
The students participate in service projects throughout the year including an annual mission project each summer. These mission projects are student led to give the students a chance to serve in areas that are important to them.
Central Students also attend Resurrection every January where they join thousands of other youth to worship, learn, and grow in their faith.
